How to use a screenshot AI assistant for a better study workflow

Turn a practice question into an explanation you can check, then use follow-ups to find the step you missed.

A screenshot AI assistant is most useful when it helps you identify the step you do not understand. A question, an explanation, and a targeted follow-up form a better workflow than collecting answers without checking how they were reached.

Capture a complete, readable question

Include the question, relevant diagram, units, and answer choices if the choices affect the task. A cropped image that omits “choose two” or “round to three decimal places” changes the problem. Small chart labels and symbols deserve particular attention.

Use a practice question with a result you can independently check for your first attempt. That makes it easier to tell whether the tool read the image correctly. If the text is hard for you to read at its current size, improve the image before sending it.

In hidden.help, capture and send are distinct actions. Review the queued content and use the current in-app shortcut settings. Capturing a screenshot is not the same as submitting it to the AI service.

Ask for the explanation you need

A good first instruction identifies the task and desired level of detail. For example: “Explain the first algebra step and keep the units visible.” For a multiple-choice practice question, ask why one option fits and why the closest alternative does not.

Use saved instructions for preferences that stay consistent across questions, such as concise language or visible intermediate calculations. Put question-specific information in the current message instead of repeatedly changing your general instructions.

hidden.help supports an optional message with screenshots and follow-up conversation. Keep the first request focused. If a response skips the exact step you need, use a short follow-up rather than adding several new questions at once.

Check the answer against the problem

Verify the result with a worked solution, course material, calculation, or another appropriate reference. For an equation, substitute the proposed value back into the original expression. For a diagram, make sure the explanation refers to the correct labels.

If the answer looks wrong, check whether the model misread a symbol or relied on context from an earlier question. State the correction directly: “The exponent is three, not two.” Ask for a revised explanation that uses the corrected detail.

Confidence and correctness are different. A response can be neatly formatted and still make a basic error. The useful measure is whether you can follow and verify the reasoning, not whether the tool gives a rapid or emphatic answer.

Reset context and try a similar problem

After understanding a solution, try a similar practice question without assistance. Then compare where your approach differs. This turns the tool into a feedback loop and helps you see whether you learned a method or only recognized an answer.

Clear queued images and reset conversation context when changing subjects. Saved preferences and conversation context serve different purposes: a preferred explanation style can stay, while the details of an unrelated problem should not carry into a new task.

Use screenshots containing only the material needed for the question. When assistance is restricted, follow the applicable rules. To evaluate the hidden.help interface itself, start with the landing-page demos and the Windows setup guide, then use non-sensitive practice content.
